Mahatma Gandhi…My Life, My Message

This year we chose explore the life one of the greatest souls to bless the world in Mahatma Gandhi. Camp this year will take a different turn as we explore his message, his life values, the attitude and determination that Gandhi exhibited, and more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the price for one student?
A: If you register before Sunday July 29th, the cost for the entire week is $25, if after July 29th, it’s $30 per student.
Q: What does the admission price cover?
A: The admission price covers everything for the entire week: all the snacks, lunch, supplies, arts and crafts, camp t-shirts, etc. There are no additional costs to the student.
Q: What the times for the camp?
A: Monday – Saturday: 9am until 5pm ; Sunday: 9am until 12noon
Q: Where do I submit my Camp Registration Forms?
A: You can bring it to temple on Sunday morning, or mail to the PO BOX address listed on the registration form.
Q: What is a typical day like?
A: At 9am all the students are aligned into their respective groups (1 through 12), morning mantras and meditation begins. This is followed by Yoga, Bhajans, and then the students are split up based on their age groups for sessions of learning. Snacks follow, then either a lecture or arts and crafts. Lunch is at 12 noon until 1 pm, then more learning, and after that is game time for about 2 hours, then closing mantras.
Q: What is the theme of this years Camp?
A: Mahatma Gandhi: My life, my message. You can expect to learn an abundance of what Gandhi stood for, his life story, the techniques he utilized for success, history of India’s Independence, etc. Even though Gandhi is the theme, there will lectures on Hinduism, Indian Culture, Hindu Gods, etc.
Q: What type of food and snacks will be served?
A: All vegetarian: varies from sandwiches, pizza, channa and aloo, etc.
Q: What type of games will be played?
A: Soccer, Football, Indian Games, and Cricket
Q: I would like to be Group Leader: what are the requirements?
A: Must be a high school student and your activity within the Shiva Mandir helps in the selection process as there are only 12 spots. There are also 12 co-leader spots. You receive volunteer hours for being Camp Leaders. Email aspersad15@Gmail.com if you interested as soon as possible.
